Completion of Tower Restoration Project is Celebrated

On Thursday, November 7, 2024, about 40 people gathered to celebrate the completion of an extensive restoration project to our fire tower.

The celebration was organized by NH State Parks.

Among the many speakers were Matt Flanders (left) Director - NH Bureau of Historic Sites and Brian Wilson, Director of Parks and Recreation (at the podium).

Among the speakers was Max Baker of Pro-Point Restoration who was on hand to talk about the process and techniques that his firm used to ensure that this restoration would be top notch. Other speakers were: outgoing president of WSPA, Sally Pratt, and new president, Janet Wittenauer, NH Forests and Lands Chief, Steven Sherman and Executive Councilor, Joe Kenney.

It was exciting to once again enjoy spectacular views from high up on the tower.

WSPA Janet Wittenauer certainly seemed to be enjoying the views.

Many thanks to Matt Flanders and all of the State of NH officials for shepherding this project through to its completion. The tower has probably never looked better in its one hundred plus years!
